2022 GMC Sierra 1500
No matter where you're going or what's on your to-do list, there's a capable Sierra 1500 that's perfect for you. According to the press box at GMC, it's the most advanced full-size pickup in its class. So are you ready to meet the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500? Let's go!
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The half-ton Sierra hits the pavement with improvements inside and out. This 2022 variant comes in three cab styles and three-bed lengths plus eight trim levels, including SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali. In addition, GMC renamed the base model to Pro and added the high-performance AT4X and luxurious Denali Ultimate models to the family.
Every 2022 Sierra 1500 gets a refreshed front fascia that sports a fresh grille design and an updated bumper. A pair of attractive, newly styled LED headlights, and daytime running lights round out this revived look. The new reigning trim moves GMC into luxury branding with its dark chrome exterior and stunning 22-inch rims.
Engine (Power)
The half-ton GMC Sierra 1500 is powerful and capable, no matter what's under the hood. Pick from the stock 355-horsepower 5.3-liter or the optional 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8s. There's also an available 3.0-liter diesel V-6 that now works with the Max Trailering package. In addition, a new chassis increased this Duramax's towing capacity from 9,200 to 13,200 pounds.
If you're a fan of last year's 4.3-liter V-6, GMC's engineers dropped it from the lineup in favor of updates to the available 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four. It's more refined for 2022 and produces 37 more pound-feet of torque than the 383 made by the outgoing setup, and the eight-speed automatic is more responsive.
Performance
Find out for yourself how the new Sierra AT4X sets the bar for light-duty truck performance. It's the most capable off-roading model in the lineup and the standard by which you measure rival trucks. Outdoor enthusiasts like you will appreciate must-have gear like electronic locking front and rear differentials, underbody protection, and rocker guards to protect its door sills from dings. It even rolls on 18-inch wheels shod with gnarly mud-Terrain tires. So dial your 2022 AT4X into Terrain Mode. It delivers one-pedal driving in low-speed situations.
Interior
GMC's designers treated the 2022 Sierra 1500 to a stylish makeover and its most meaningful updates of the year happened inside the cabin. The interior options and upscale materials of top trims, like leather upholstery and heated seats, provide a luxurious feel.
The digital screens also offer more technology, beginning with the SLE model. This truck's makeover includes a massive 13.4-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. In addition, this updated system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus it provides access to features like Super Cruise hands-free driving.
Safety Features
For added confidence on the go, GMC added a standard rearview camera and the Teen Driver suite of controls to every Sierra 1500 — but don't stop there. Add available driver assistance features like safety alert seats and front and rear parking sensors. Also optional are lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
